Two posts in 1 day -- I'm trying to catch up - then back to my (hopefully) usual every other day or so posts. Kat Eye Studio's Exploring with a Camera prompt for April is dynamic diagonals. Since most of my time has been with sick kids & husband, I haven't been able to take as many pictures as usual, but at a recent scout field trip I spotted this fence.

1830s style fence |
Although the diagonals don't lead your eye totally to one side or the other of the image, it does zigzag while leading you towards the distance. This fence was surrounding an 1830s dogtrot cabin where everything inside and around the cabin was either authentic or reproduced accurately - everything worked in the cabin as well & the couple who presented the homestead site approached the information as if they were actually living there (they essentially do during the day - cooking, cleaning, tending the chickens, making repairs, etc) - hence the living history.

A good example of zig-zag diagonals. Yes, the eye is carried forward into the distance!
ReplyDeleteI love the use of the zig zag! There is a lot of energy leading the eye through the frame in this case, and you show that the diagonal doesn't have to lead across the frame - front to back works too! Thanks for linking in to Exploring with a Camera.
ReplyDeleteA great example of zig-zag diagonals! I almost posted a fence just like this, but the decided I would make mine all nature diagonals!
ReplyDeleteThis type of fence always draws my attention. I never thought of the diagonal lines represented in the image...you have captured this one nicely!
ReplyDeleteWonderful example, Sherry. It is simple but gives just the right movement. I love the old wood color also.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for taking time to leave a comment. Sorry I didn't reply individually - time got away from me - then I figured it was kind of late to be responding. Hope you'll visit my website again - really enjoy seeing everyone's images on these challenges!
